Egypt praises Saudi measures to probe Khashoggi’s murder

Egypt commended on Thursday the measures taken by Saudi Arabia to probe the murder of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

All concerned parties abide by the current track of the case and keep away from politicizing or bargaining on it, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a press statement.

Earlier in the day, Saudi Public Prosecution (SPP) revealed the details about the murder of Khashoggi, saying he was murdered with the injection of a drug with his body dismembered, after his altercation with a group of Saudi agents inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

“Egypt has been following with deep concern the statement released by the SPP on the outcome of investigations into the murder of Khashoggi, which proved to be transparent and reflected the seriousness of the kingdom in revealing the facts about the case,” the statement said.

Khashoggi, a journalist for The Washington Post and a strong critic of the Saudi government, disappeared on Oct. 2 after he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul for his marriage documents.

After initial denials, Saudi authorities admitted late last month that Khashoggi was murdered inside the consulate and arrested 18 individuals in relation to the case.
