Bombs outside Cairo university killing at least 1

Egyptian security officials say two roadside bombs have targeted riot police deployed outside Cairo University’s engineering faculty, killing at least one person and wounding four.

The officials say the bombs went off seconds apart on Wednesday. Their target was the riot police deployed in the area daily in anticipation of protests by students loyal to ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.

Egyptian state TV says the bombs were crude and homemade.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. AP
