British foreign secretary visits Cairo

British Foreign Secretary William Hague arrived here on Sunday on a two-day visit to Egypt.

Hague will hold talks with Chief of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Hussein Tantawi, Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, Foreign Minister Nabil el-Arabi about Britain’s support to Egypt during its transitional period, official MENA news agency said.

Hague will also meet with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa to discuss the critical situation in Syria and Libya, it said.

British Prime Minister David Cameron paid a visit to Egypt in February, the first foreign leader to visit the country after Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak stepped down on Feb. 11 due to mass anti-government protests.
