The Cairo Museum is missing 64 of the most valuable exhibits from its inventory according to the director of the museum Tareq Al-Awadi.
Among the missing rarities are treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamen.
On the night of January 29the the museum was attacked by thieves and looters who made off with the treasures .
The museum is located on Tahrir Square in Cairo, which in January and February of this year was the scene of confrontations between the authorities and the opposition in Egypt.
The expositions of the Cairo museum contain about 150 thousand priceless artifacts.
