Egypt Army launches Facebook page

Egypt’s ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces has launched its own page on Facebook, the social network website that was the starting tool for the victorious revolution that ousted president Hosni Muburak a week ago. Hundreds of thousands of supporters are already there and the number has been rising by the minute.

Among them were many protesters who were there in Tahrir Square, the symbol of the revolution.

Some thanked the Army for its role in protecting the revolution, others urged it to deliver on the transition to Civilian rule and swift punishment of the corrupt figures of the old regime who stole the country’s fortunes.

Egypt’s Army says it launched the page in the belief that fruitful cooperation with the noble sons of the nation, led by the brilliant youth, is necessary at this critical juncture and will lead to the stability, security and prosperity of the country.
