Egyptian military pledges not to use force against public

The Egyptian armed forces has issued a statement saying it “has not and will not use force against the public.”

A spokesman for the armed forces said on Egyptian state television that the military is aware of the “legitimate demands of the honest citizens,” the Associated Press reports.

The statement also included a warning from the military against “the carrying out of any act that destabilizes security of the country.”
