Egypt’s Cabinet reshuffle expected Monday: PM

Egypt’s expected Cabinet reshuffle has been finalised and the details will be announced on Monday, a source inside the government told Ahram’s Arabic website.

The reshuffle, expected to be publicly announced at 8pm, will include 11 new ministers who will take the constitutional oath before President Mohamed Morsi Tuesday morning.

On 20 April, Morsi stated in a television interview with Qatari-owned Al Jazeera news network that a cabinet reshuffle – a demand of Egypt’s political opposition – would be announced “soon.”

Presidential spokesman Omar Amer said on 30 April that Qandil, who assumed office last August, will continue in his post.

Egypt’s last Cabinet reshuffle took place in January when ten new ministers were sworn in, including ministers for interior, finance, and transportation.
