Libyan plane lands in Cairo carrying Libyan official

Major General Abdul-Rahman al-Zawi, head of Libya’s logistics and supply authority, arrived on a private jet in Egyptian capital Cairo Wednesday, according to a source at the airport.

Gaddafi blames unrest on foreigners

TRIPOLI, March 9 (Xinhua) — Libya’s leader Muammar Gaddafi has once again alleged involvement of foreigners in the rebellion against his nearly 42-year grip on power, Al-Jazeera TV reported Wednesday.

In an address on state TV in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Gaddafi warned of a plot to colonise Libya, noting his security forces had captured several foreigners during a raid on Monday. Full story

International pressure mounting on Libya’s Gaddafi

BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) — Some foreign governments and international organizations heaped more pressure on Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi on Thursday, as Russia warned of a civil war in this Northern African country.

Rebels say Gaddafi will not be pursued if he quits

TRIPOLI, March 8 (Xinhua) — Rebels will not pursue Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi over crimes they say he has committed if he steps down from his post in the next 72 hours, the head of the rebel National Libyan Council told Al-Jazeera TV on Tuesday.

“If he leaves Libya, during 72 hours, and stops the bombardment, we as Libyans will step back from pursuing him for crimes,” Abdel- Jalil Moustafa, head of the opposition National Council said. Full story
