The train conductor of the deadly Badrashin accident, his assistant and three other railway authority employees are to face their first trial session on Saturday.
They are charged with involuntary manslaughter and negligence in the death of over a dozen police conscripts in the train accident in January.
At least 19 Central Security Forces conscripts and 120 others were injured in the crash when the 12-carriage train that had been en route to Cairo from Upper Egypt derailed near the town of Badrashin minutes before midnight on Monday, 14 January, eventually hitting another train standing at the Badrashin station.
Egypt has witnessed a series of deadly train crashes since the early 1990s.
