Hundreds of hardcore football fans of Zamalek’s Ultras White Knights demonstrated on Tuesday in front of the Alexandria court complex against the arrest of a 14-year-old member of the group on Sunday.
The young protesters chanted against the Ministry of Interior and the Muslim Brotherhood, the group from which President Mohamed Morsi hails, stating they will be participating in the January 25 Revolution anniversary demonstrations.
Dozens of people were arrested on Sunday and Monday following the clashes that took place outside a court in Alexandria.
Fighting erupted on Sunday between protesters and security forces after trial judges announced they would step down just one day before they were due to deliver their verdict in the case against police officers on trial for the killing of protesters during the January 25 Revolution.
Mohamed Abdel-Fattah, one of the demonstrators, told Al-Ahram Arabic website that the arrested 14-year-old is Omar Hisham and that he was detained during the burning of the Alexandria court complex on Monday.
Abdel-Fattah further stressed that Hisham was only there to check what was happening and was not in any way involved in the fire. Hisham has missed his exams due to his detention, his friend further complained.
Meanwhile, Central Security Forces (CSF) have surrounded the court complex blocking all its entrances.
