The daylight saving time will be put on hold starting Thursday 26 June and will be restored after the holy month of Ramadan ends, Egypt’s cabinet has said.
The summer time will be temporarily halted as of Thursday night, the cabinet stated on its Facebook page.
Ramadan, a Hijri calendar month during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, is expected to begin on Sunday 29 June.
The daylight saving time will be restored once more on the night of Thursday 31 July.
Egypt has put the summer time, which advances the clock one hour forward, into effect on 15 May in order to reduce electricity consumption across the country.
