337 accounts of violence against Egyptian children in 2014: State council

The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood has observed 337 violations against children since the beginning 2014, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

The council said the reports were recorded via a government helpline.

Sixty-seven of the cases involved child trafficking and 57 involved the killing of children.

Council secretary-general Azza El-Ashmawy urged all families to supervise their kids in public places.

A new constitution passed in 2014 has provided better protection against violence and embraced more specific language on child labour.
