Nine accused of killing three military cadets in an April bomb attack in Kafr el-Sheikh, north of Cairo,have been arrested, Youm7 reported Saturday.
On April 15, a blast targeted a room located in the Kafr el-Sheikh Sports Stadium, in which the students were waiting for their bus.
Two of the students were reportedly killed and three others were injured at the time of the attack. Four days later, a third student succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.
Since the 2013 military ouster of President Mohamed Morsi, similar attacks have targeted numerous police and army utilities leaving scores of soldiers killed. Most of the attacks have taken place in North Sinai, where a “war on terrorism” campaign is ongoing; army officials have announced hundreds of radical Islamist militants killed in the crackdown.
