The trial of former Egyptian Hosni Mubarak has resumed on Saturday, in what was his second court appearance since his release from Cairo’s Tora prison last month.
In a state television broadcast of the court proceedings, Mubarak was seen in a wheelchair, dressed in a jacket and wearing dark sunglasses.
The 85-year-old Mubarak is accused of complicity in the deaths of some 850 people during the 2011 uprising against his rule.
Lawyers defending Mubarak, his interior minister Habib al-Adly, his two sons Ala and Gamal and six security chiefs argue Islamists were primarily responsible for violence during the 2011 revolution.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of death.
In June 2012, Mubarak had been convicted complicity in the deaths of protesters and sentenced to life in prison, but a retrial was ordered in January after he appealed.
