The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, that groups supporters of ousted President Mohamed Mursi, has called for demonstrations this Monday to express its frustration with putting the deposed president on trial.
The criminal court will begin on Monday the trial of Mursi and other Muslim Brotherhood leaders, including Essam al-Erian and Mohamed al-Beltagy, on allegations they incited violence.
The detained Brotherhood senior members are accused of encouraging the killing of Mursi’s opponents by the presidential palace at the end of last year.
The December clashes between Brotherhood supporters and Mursi’s opponents left at least 11 dead and hundreds injured.
Mursi’s supporters have been protesting since the army ousted him in July in response to mass demonstrations calling for his resignation.
Mursi has been detained in an unknown location since his removal from power on July 3.
