BREAKING: Judge suspends Morsi trial after defendants chant against court

The presiding judge has temporarily suspended the first session of deposed president Mohamed Morsi’s trial after the defendants chanted from their cage that the trial was illegitimate, Egyptian state TV reported.

Morsi, who was ousted by the army on 3 July amid mass protests against him, has reportedly said he will not recognise the authority of any court, claiming he remains the country’s legal president.
