Boy killed, nine injured in Friday’s clashes

A 12-year-old boy was killed and nine people were injured in clashes that broke out across Egypt on Friday, said Ahmed al-Ansari, the head of Egypt’s Ambulance Organisation.

The boy who was killed in Giza is unidentified and his body is currently at Omm al-Masryeen Hospital’s morgue, Ansari told the Middle East News Agency.

Another person was injured in Giza and was transferred to al-Qasr al-Aini Hospital, he said.

Three were injured in Sharqiya, one in Beheira, and four in Suez, Ansari added.

Clashes erupted on Friday evening between supporters of deposed President Mohamed Mursi and security forces in Suez.

In Giza, supporters and opponents of Mursi hurled stones at each other in Haram and Omraneya areas.

Groups of the former president’s supporters and opponents also hurled stones in Sharqiya’s Zagazig.

The pro-Mursi National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy had called for demonstrations on Friday to denounce what it described as the blatant assault by security forces on Egypt’s women.
