A number of students announced a sit-on on Sunday at Egypt’s Zaqaziq University, located north of Cairo, to protest the presence of police on university campus and the arrest of some of their colleagues.
The protesting students cordoned the faculty of engineering’s campus, preventing students from going inside to take their mid-term examinations that were scheduled for the day.
The security forces intervened and the exams took place after two hours of delay.
The Central Security Forces stormed the campus on Saturday and fired teargas bombs to disperse a former student sit-in, initiated in response to the arrest of some students on Monday during clashes between students and the security forces.
