Pro-Brotherhood march clashes with police in Maadi and other areas

Police forces used teargas to disperse groups of protesters who back deposed President Mohamed Mursi and the Muslim Brotherhood in Maadi, Gesr al-Suez, and Zeitoun areas in Cairo, in addition to Mohandessin and Talebiya in Giza on Friday

In Maadi, security forces fired teargas bombs at a pro-Brotherhood march to break it up.

They deployed three armoured vehicles in Ahmed Zaki Street in Maadi after supporters of the Brotherhood staged a march without obtaining a permit as per a new protest law, the state-owned agency MENA reported.

Clashes broke out in Gesr al-Suez and Alf Maskan areas between Mursi supporters and the police as the latter dispersed a march for Mursi’s allies using teargas.

In Zeitoun, clashes erupted when pro-Brotherhood demonstrators chanted anti-army slogans, which prompted residents of Ezbet Shaheen to fight with them.

Security forces broke up a march in Giza’s Talebiya using teargas, which led the pro-Mursi demonstrators to clash with them.

Earlier today, police tear-gassed pro-Mursi protesters in Mohandessin’s Ahmed Orabi Street after the latter hurled stones at security forces.
