6.2 magnitude earthquake felt in Cairo, Alexandria

The Egyptian National Seismic Network detected a 6.2-magnitude earthquake at 5.21 pm on Saturday, the Middle East News Agency reported.

The centre of the quake, which occurred at a depth of 46 kilometres below the sea surface, was in Southern Turkey, a seismically active area.

The tremor was felt in Cairo, Alexandria and Arish.

No casualties or damages were reported.
