The movement of trains on the second metro line, from Cairo University to Dokki, was stopped after Friday prayers due to a call reporting the presence of a bomb.
The hotline of the Metro Company received a call informing them of a bomb inside a bag in el-Behooth station.
The station was the site of an explosion earlier on Friday, which targeted a police vehicle and left one policeman dead and 15 others injured.
Head of the Metro Company Abdallah Fawzy said they notified the police immediately after the call and stopped the metro line. Police cordoned the area around the suspicious bag, he said.
Explosives experts and civil protection forces were called to check the bag, Fawzy added.
