Chinese diplomat says Egyptians support for Sisi as new president growing

China’s Middle East Special Envoy Wu Sike said Egyptians’ support for Defense Minister Field Marshal Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to run for the presidency is growing.

Egyptians need a strong leader who can take over this current perilous situation and inspire them with hope in a bright future, he said.

Wu Sike, who served as a Chinese ambassador to Egypt from 2003 to 2007, has visited Cairo recently.

Wu said he is hopeful that Egypt will not suffer from political and economic woes for a long time.

Egypt has the ability to restore stability and realize economic development, he said.

The diplomat asserted his country will help in achieving these goals.

China considers Egypt as a close friend and will help Egypt in restoring its stability and pushing economic development, he said.
