Egypt’s cabinet to held ‘urgent meeting’ Saturday

Egypt’s cabinet will be holding an urgent meeting late on Saturday, reported the Al-Ahram Arabic news website. The details of the meeting have not yet been revealed.

The National Defence Council (NDC) also met earlier in the day to discuss the country’s security status, after another six conscripts were killed in a militant attack early Saturday as part of a series of attacks mainly targeting security forces. It also discussed the upcoming presidential elections, reported Al-Ahram.

The NDC includes fourteen top army, police, intelligence, and cabinet officials and is headed by the president. It also includes the prime minister, head of the parliament, ministers of defence, foreign affairs, finance, and the interior along with head of the intelligence, military chief of staff, and heads of navy and air force.
