Egyptian arrested in Kuwait over failed ‘terrorist attack’ against US nationals

Kuwait’s interior ministry said on Saturday that it arrested an Egyptian expat over a “terrorist attack” after he rammed his car into another vehicle carrying five American nationals, state-run Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported.

The ministry’s statement, which identified the Egyptian as Ibrahim Soliman, said that initial investigations suggest that he “might be linked to the so-called Islamic State” militant group.

The statement added that none of the intended victims were injured, though the assailant suffered multiple injuries.

The spokesman of Egypt’s foreign ministry was not available for comment.
