The Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera) has conducted several polls on proposals to amend several personal status laws. They citizened checked viewpoints on verbal oral divorce and granting custody of children to the father.
The poll conducted in February 2017 on the undocumented verbap divorce showed that 63 percent of Egyptians refuse it, while rate of those who approve it does not exceed 16 percent and 21 percent could not decide.
The rate of those who refuse goes up to 60 percent in males and 67 percent of females. The same rate declines to 63 percent among those with a below than the average rate of educate to 57 percent of those with university degrees or higher. Meanwhile, the rate of those who approve rises from 12 percent of those with below than average rate of education to 30 percent of those with university degrees or higher.
The outcome indicate that one third of Egyptians follow on the ongoing talks on documenting the oral divorce. These talks are mostly followed on by those of highest education levels, reaching 59 percent of university graduates compared to 26 percent of those with lower levels of education.
