Body of drowned South African tourist found in Aswan

The body of a South African woman who went missing on Wednesday night when her tourist boat capsised in the Nile has been found by residents and police in the Upper Egyptian town of Kom Ombo, near Aswan, according to Al-Ahram’s Arabic news website.

Police managed to rescue the five other tourists on board along with three Egyptian crewmembers on Wednesday shortly after the boat flipped over during a spate of bad weather.

Egypt has witnessed increasingly inclement weather in the past few days.

Heavy rains since Wednesday have led to the loss of 14 homes, complete road blockages and blackouts in Egypt’s Red Sea governorates.

Showers were expected across the country on Thursday, as announced by Egypt’s Meteorological Authority, with floods in the Sinai Peninsula, the Red Sea mountain range and Upper Egypt.

The Meteorological Authority said the weather was expected to significantly improve by Friday in all governorates around the country.
