Bomb explodes in Egypt’s Assiut, burns gas station

An improvised bomb exploded next to a gas station in Upper Egypt’s Assiut late Wednesday, setting fire to the gas station, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

No causalities or injuries were reported.

Assiut’s security head received notification that a car exploded while parked next to the gas station.

Egypt’s Civil Protection Service arrived to the scene to extinguish the fire before it reached nearby buildings.

Police are investigating the incident.

Bomb attacks and shootings directed at security forces have killed hundreds of police and military personnel since 2013.
