Bomb explosion in Egypt’s Zagazig halts railway movement

Movement on the Zagazig-Ismailiya railway was halted Saturday after an improvised explosives device exploded on the tracks.

The improvised device was placed on a small bridge, where trains pass, Reuters’ Aswat Masriya reported.

Al-Sharqiya’s governor checked the site of the explosion and said a team of engineers will examine the bridge to make sure it’s safe for trains.

Halts in railway services due to planted bombs have been common in the last year and a half since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
