Bomb rocks Cairo metro station, injuries reported

An IED exploded at Helmeyet al-Zeitoun metro station east of Cairo on Thursday morning leaving at least four passengers injured.
Bomb squads are currently combing the station.
Subway movement stopped on the Marg-Helwan line due to the blast, security sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm. They added that the exploded device was a sonic bomb and explained that injuries occurred when passengers stampeded away from the blast’s scene.
Egypt has witnessed a surge in bombings that targeted security and public facilities since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsy. Authorities have blamed extremist groups opposed to the current regime that ousted Morsy of perpetrating the attacks.
