A police officer was injured in clashes that erupted between police forces and Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Alexandria on Friday.
Security forces tear-gassed supporters of deposed President Mohamed Mursi to disperse them.
Major Yehia Riad suffered a shotgun pellet injury during the clashes, said Major General Nasser al-Abd, head of Alexandria’s investigations unit.
Twelve people were arrested in the clashes.
On the other hand, hundreds of the Armed Forces’ supporters gathered at al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque amid tight security.
An Azhar University student in Alexandria was shot dead on Thursday as police forces clashed with pro-Brotherhood students during demonstrations.
The clashes come one day before Egyptians commemorate the anniversary January 25 Revolution, which witnessed the ouster of former President Hosni Mubarak.
