Child shot dead in Suez clashes

A 10-year old boy was killed on Friday after he was shot in clashes that broke out between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and residents of Awel el-Sour area in Suez, said Reda Zaghloul, head of the emergency unit at Suez’s health headquarters.

Earlier today, scuffles flared up between opponents and supporters of deposed President Mohamed Mursi in Suez.

The scuffles erupted when a pro-Brotherhood march chanted against the army, the police and army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Ten-year old Samir Ahmed Mohamed Mostafa Elgamal was shot dead in the right-hand side of the head, Zaghloul told Aswat Masriya.

The boy was taken to the Suez General Morgue, he added.

Eyewitnesses said Samir was with neither side when the clashes broke out.

Clashes were renewed between the two parties as they hurled stones, broken glass, and fireworks at each other.

Clashes also broke out in several areas in Suez such as Abul Hasm and Ahmed Orabi districts and el-Nil Street, prompting police forces to intervene and teargas the two sides.
