An Egyptian court sentenced two people to life imprisonment on Wednesday and seven others to 10 years on charges of violence that took place by the Nile City Towers in August of 2012.
The confrontations erupted by the towers more than a year ago when a group of youth who once guarded the compound gathered to protest that they were let go.
The protesters set a number of vehicles on fire and vandalized property near the towers.
One of the protesters was killed in the clashes.
Twenty-two other defendants were sentenced to seven years in prison while 22 were acquitted.
A prosecutor had referred the defendants to trial, accusing them of violent acts, thuggery, the illegal possession of arms as well resisting the authorities during their attempt to raid the towers.
