Egypt mulls 2MW solar power plant

The Egyptian governorate of Luxor is considering investing EGP 22mn ($3mn) building a 2MW solar power plant.

Governor Tarek Saad Eddin said the project will represent the beginning of a shift towards renewable to cover part of its power energy needs which currently stands at 60MW per year.

Two solar power plants were recently inaugurated in the presence of Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb, Egypt Daily News

The first plant has a capacity of 80 KW and cost EGP 3.8m to build.
