An Egyptian prosecutor decided on Tuesday to release Refaa al-Tahtawi, head of the deposed president’s office on account of being excluded from investigations regarding the violence that erupted near the Ittihadiya presidential palace last December, reported the state-owned news agency.
Tahtawi, who served when Islamist President Mohamed Mursi was in power, was arrested in August in relation to the clashes that erupted between supporters of the Mursi and opposition activists outside the presidential palace, which had left at least ten people dead and hundreds injured.
The prosecution also released 14 others who were arrested pending the same case.
