Egypt Salafi group will not commemorate January uprising

Egypt’s ultra-conservative Islamist Salafis have said they would not participate in the January 25 commemoration, neither through protests or celebration, state-owned news website Akhbar Al-youm reported on Tuesday.

The Dawa Salafiya said that it had a firm stance towards the crowding that will happen on the uprising’s third anniversary.

“The Dawa will only pray to Allah to keeps Egyptians from bloodshed,” Yasser al-Borhami, Deputy Head of the Dawa Salafiya said.

Borhami stressed upon the need to go back to social reconciliation in order to save Egypt. He called on the Muslim Brotherhood youth not to drift after calls of violence.
