An Egyptian passenger who was arrested upon arrival at Cairo international airport Tuesday night is to be referred to mental examination for threatening to blow up a Saudi airliner Flynas plane which was heading from Jeddah to Egypt, state news agency MENA reported.
Egyptian airport security received an alert from the flight 567 pilot that the 61-year-old passenger had been uttering illogical words as well as threatening to blow up the plane, which caused a state of panic among passengers.
The man, a retired employee of Egypt’s Spinning and Weaving Company, was returning to Cairo after performing the Umrah rituals in Saudi Arabia.
Cairo airport security searched the plane but did not find any explosives aboard.
The aircraft later flew back to Saudi Arabia as scheduled.
