Egyptians head to Tahrir Square for revolution anniversary

Egyptians began to assemble in Tahrir Square Saturday morning to mark the third anniversary of the January 25 revolution which ended the nearly 30-year rule of Hosni Mubarak.

Masses waved Egyptian flags and played patriotic music, while surrounded by military and police forces securing the square.

“I am expecting good today, and no one is able to terrorize Egyptians from going to the Egyptian squares,” said a vendor outside the Egyptian museum.

“I want people to participate today to show to the whole world that it’s the people’s revolution,” another vendor told Youm7.

Four bombs were detonated in Cairo and Giza yesterday, shocking the city already on a high level of alert. Militant group Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis claimed responsibility for the explosions, and Egyptian security forces are visible on most streets of the capital.
