Egypt’s Hurghada to host Soma Bay solar car competition

Egypt’s Hurghada governorate will host its first ever edition of the Somabay Egyptian Solar Challenge (SESC) where a number of domestic as well as international teams will race solar cars, state news agency MENA reported.

The competition will take place from 17 to 21 March. The cars will race in the Red Sea coast’s picturesque Soma Bay and will later parade in finishing order in front of the Giza pyramids, the sphinx and the Kufu solar boat.

Teams from nine countries are set to participate in the competition: Egypt, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, France, India, Morocco, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

Eight Egyptian teams will participate from Cairo, Zuweil, Mansoura, Helwan, Banha, Tanta, South Valley University as well as the British University in Egypt.
