Egypt’s Shoukry discusses latest regional developments with Kuwaiti Emir on third stop of Arab tour

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed the latest developments in the region with the Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Gaber Al-Sabah, especially the situation in Lebanon, the Houthi attack on Riyadh, and the attack on the oil pipeline in Bahrain, ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement on Monday.

Shoukry is on a three-day regional tour to discuss regional issues with various Arab leaders and officials.

So far he has met Jordan’s King Abdullah in Amman, and thereafter Bahrain’s King Hamed in Manama.

The tour also includes Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman.

Shoukry said that the current regional situation requires intensifying consultation and coordination between Arab countries to preserve national security and to avoid tension and instability, Abu Zeid added.

Shoukry delivered a message to Al-Sabah from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, praising the brotherly relations between Egypt and Kuwait, and the role of Kuwait in consolidating solidarity and Arab consensus.

During the meeting, the two also discussed the situations in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Libya.

From his side Al-Sabah also praised the pivotal role of Egypt in joint Arab cooperation, and in preserving the security and stability of the Arab region.

Shoukry also met with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sabah Al-Khaled Hamed Al-Sabah to discuss bilateral relations, with both agreeing upon the necessity to further develop Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations on broader levels that serve the interests and aspirations of the two countries.
