Egypt’s top prosecutor refers beIN Sports CEO to court over monopolistic practices

Egypt’s prosecutor-general has referred the CEO of the Qatari beIN Media Group, the parent company of beIN Sports, to court on charges related to monopolistic practices, Al-Ahram Arabic news website said on Wednesday.

The charges against Nasser Al-Khelaifi stem from alleged repeated violations of Egyptian laws on competition and the prevention of monopolistic practices, Al-Ahram reported.

The sports media company holds exclusive rights to air African championship league matches.

Matches featuring Egyptian teams who reach the championship can only be watched on the beIN Sports channel.
