Death toll in clashes on third anniversary of 25 January revolution has risen to five, a health ministry source told Ahram Online.
Two have been reported killed in Upper Egypt’s Minya during a crackdown by police on a protest by supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi.
One has been killed in Giza’s Mohandeseen clashes that erupted when security sources dispersed two separate demonstrations, one by the Way of the Revolution Front and one by Morsi supporters.
One has been confirmed killed in Cairo clashes.
Clashes have also been ongoing in downtown Cairo several hundred metres away from Tahrir Square, as security cracked down on protesters chanting against both military rule and against Brotherhood.
One woman has been confirmed killed in Alexandria during clashes. Meanwhile, thousands of supporters of the interim government continue to celebrate the anniversary of the revolution in Tahrir and other squares around the country.
