Ed Giles, an Australian photographer based in Cairo, said on Twitter that a group of angry Egyptians threatened foreign journalists from Reuters, CNN and Getty Images near the security directorate headquarters in Cairo.
He added that the crowd prevented them from covering and photographing the scene of the explosion.
Friday morning a car bomb exploded at Cairo Security Directorate, killing 4 and injuring dozens.
Journalists in Egypt have been increasingly subject to assaults, threats and arrests since the overthrow of President Mohamed Morsi on July 3, 2013. Al-Jazeera journalists Peter Greste and Mohamed Fahmy, arrested on Dec. 29, are still detained on accusations of harming national security by spreading false news.
