Heat wave, sandstorms to hit Egypt on Saturday

A new heat wave is forecast to hit Egypt on Saturday, the head of the Metrological Authority, Ahmed Abdel-Aal, has said.

In comments to state news agency MENA, Abdel-Aal said the high temperatures would last for 24 hours.

Dust and sandstorms on desert highways are also likely.

“Temperatures are expected to be cooler from Sunday,” he added.

Temperatures in Cairo on Saturday are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius, with 45 degrees forecast for the south of the country.
