Italians happy over Sisi’s selection to Italy as first station within European tour: Presidency

Italian officials expressed happiness during their meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi  about his selection to Italy as the first station within his European tour, saying this reflects strong bilateral ties, according to Presidential Spokesperson Alaa Youssef.

The Italians, according to Youssef, expressed full support to Egypt on bilateral level through pushing the process of social and economic development forward, resuming efforts against terrorism or on another level through clarifying Egypt’s stance among European countries to drum up political and economic support, especially that Italy currently heads the European Union.

Sisi offered his review on the political situations in Egypt, saying that democracy is not an incident but an ongoing process that could not be a way to reach power then be ceded, violate constitution and ignore people’s will, Youssef added.

Youssef clarified that Sisi reviewed all efforts to fight terrorism, which reflect on stability of Egypt as well as the whole region and even Europe which suffers problem of increasing European fighters who joined extremists. He stressed necessity to unite international efforts to confront terrorism.

Meetings, according to Youssef, tackled situations in the Middle East. Italian officials assured that Egypt plays pivotal role to preserve stability and security in the region, which was clear in efforts to cease fire in Gaza.
