Five people were killed and about 32 were injured when an accident involving 20 vehicles occurred on Cairo-Assiut Road earlier on Thursday, Egypt’s Emergency Department said.
An official from the department said that ambulances transferred the wounded and the bodies to hospitals in Fayoum and Giza.
A security source said the collision happened as a result of the foggy weather that made vision difficult earlier.
Tens of Egyptians die in road accidents every year as a result of poor infrastructure and traffic management.
