MB march in Suez amid intensive security measures

Muslim Brotherhood supporters organized a march Wednesday in Suez to protest the trial of former president Mohamed Morsi and Brotherhood leaders.

Morsi and his co-defendants are accused of inciting violence and killing protesters at the Ithadeya presidential palace in December 2012, and Wednesday sees the start of the fifth trial session in the case.

On the other hand, the Suez Security Directorate increased the alert across the governorate, intensifying measures ahead of the trial.

Suez Security Director Khalil Harb said in a statement to Youm7 that security forces increased their presence at vital institutions, including the Suez Canal, Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel and police stations.

He added that they coordinated with the Third Army Field to deal with the rallies related to the Brotherhood, stressing that they would deal strictly with anyone violating the law.
