2013-635139926953027996-302Military Releases Statement; Muslim Brotherhood condemns assassination attempt; 20 injured, many with amputated limbs:

1. Military Chief and Minister of Defence Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi has released a statement condemning the “criminal bombing by some terrorist elements.”

In the strongly worded statement, Al-Sissi confirmed that the Military and all of its apparatus condemn the attack and will continue to support Egypt’s police in efforts to establish law and order.

Al-Sissi added that the terrorist attack will “not shake the morale of the Egyptian people,” and that the Military and the Ministry of Interior will continue to coordinate to eliminate all criminal activity and deal very firmly with all terrorist elements.

2. The Muslim Brotherhood has released a statement by the National Coalition to Support Legitimacy condemning what they called was an “incident/accident” on the convoy of the Minister of Interior of the “coup government.”

The statement added that they expect the attack will be used to “extend the state of emergency and increase abuse.” The Coalition added that they are peaceful and are against any violence towards the Egyptian people, even if it is against those who commit crimes that are against the law.

3. The number of injuries has risen to 21, with many losing various parts of their limbs – from hands to legs. No deaths have been reported, though it has been reported that at least two officers are in critical condition.

Initial investigation has shown that the bomb – containing at least 50 kilograms of explosives – was planted outside the residence of the Minister of Interior and may have been remotely-controlled.

State News has meanwhile reported that the remains of an individual at the bomb-site were found, and that they likely belong to the “terrorist” who blew himself up along with the vehicle that contained the explosives. This report cannot be confirmed.

The attack came after another attempt on the police yesterday in the Sinai killed one officer and wounded several.
