Mubarak to make court appearance next week

Egyptian former president Hosny Mubarak and his sons Gamal and Alaa are to appear on Tuesday in a Cairo court for questioning over allegations of official corruption, satellite broadcaster Al Jazeera reported.

Two months after the long-ruling Mubarak was forced out of office amid massive demonstrations against his rule, he and his sons were arrested on Wednesday for questioning in the case.

According to the prosecutor’s office the ongoing investigation was into allegations of corruption, wasting public money and the abuse of position for personal gain, Al Jazeera said late on Wednesday.

The eldest Mubarak, 82, has been hospitalised due to heart problems he suffered during questioning on Tuesday. His sons are being held in a jail outside Cairo with other former members of the Mubarak government. They have been ordered to be detained for 15 days.
