North Sinai students transferred to schools in safer areas – governor

School students in areas of risk near borderlines or hideouts for “terrorists” have been transferred to other schools in safer areas, Governor of North Sinai Abdel Fattah Harour told the state-run news agency MENA on Sunday.

Harour added that the armed forces coordinated with civilian police to protect all schools in the peninsula that has seen a sharp rise in militant attacks since the ouster of Islamist President Mohahmed Mursi in July 2013 following mass protests against his rule.

The governor, who inspected a number of schools in Sinai’s Arish, said that textbooks have been provided by more than 90 percent.

The new academic year for all schools in Egypt started on Sunday.
