The Ministry of Electricity’s Nuclear Plants Authority said Sunday that concentrating only on renewable energy would not help Egypt with the current electricity crisis.
Spokesperson for the authority, Ibrahim al-Assiry told Youm 7 that any country should diversify and focus on all five methods of power, electricity, solar, gas, water, and nuclear, but that Egypt should focus on nuclear power in particular because of its high cost-benefit factor.
The Ministry of Electricity and Energy was renamed Saturday in the Cabinet reshuffle to the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, a shift Assiry said does not mean to underestimate nuclear power.
